Kay James BHSc(Hons)

 

Kay James is an Independent Occupational Therapist and Manual Handling Advisor. She runs her own business OT4Independence based in Kent. Kay is a Registered Member of the National Back Exchange and a Specialist Advisor to the Care Quality Commission. She has extensive skills, knowledge and experience working with people with complex disability needs in the fields of manual handling, equipment provision and housing adaptations.

 

Kay is passionate about identifying practical solutions to meet people’s unique disability needs and providing training which will have a positive influence in the way that people are moved and handled, in both acute and community settings.

  • Manual Handling Risk Assessments - Individual adults and children with disabilities
  • Manual Handling Risk Assessments - Organisations, departments, teams or analysing one particular area of risk
  • Manual Handling problem solving and practical solutions

  • Recommendations for equipment purchase to maximise independence
  • Recommendations for adaptations to people's homes to maximise independence or ensure that care can be provided safely at home.
